How do I apply for the federal tax credit of 30% up to a maximum of $1500 for energy efficient windows?
1. Be certain the windows you have purchased meet the criterion necessary for the credit. For windows purchased before June 1st, A-BEST's Energy Star Qualified windows are eligible for a credit of 30% up to a maximum of $1500. For windows purchased after June 1st, A-BEST's "S-Series" meet the criterion set forth by the Federal Government of a U-Value of .30 (or lower) and a Solar Heat Gain Co-Efficient (SHGC) Value of .30 (or lower). (Note: this credit only applies to qualifying windows installed in the homeowner's existing primary residence).
2. The homeowner should keep a copy of the contract provided at the time of sale by A-BEST Window. Also keep a copy of the Manufacturer's Certification Statement.

3. You will need to file the 2009 IRS Form 5695 and submit it with your 2009 taxes (by April 15th). (Note: Industry Standard for window installation is $50/window for labor.)
